‘Side injury’ Ohtani misses fourth straight game…”No roster changes,” but question marks grow

Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) is out of the starting lineup for the fourth straight game with a side injury.

The Angels will host the 2023 Major League Baseball Cleveland Guardians at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California, on Aug. 8 (ET). But once again, Ohtani’s name has been left off the list.

Ohtani was abruptly removed from the starting lineup on May 5. He suffered a side injury in training. As if that weren’t bad enough, he missed Game 5 and then was left out of the lineup for Game 6. His absence from the starting lineup for two consecutive games was significant as he had recently suffered a major injury, tearing a ligament in his right elbow.

Not only was Ohtani left out of the starting lineup for Game 6, but he was also excluded from the pregame “group photo” before the game. The Angels explained that Ohtani had gone to get his side checked out, so the Angels had one of their front office staff dressed in an Ohtani jersey to take the photo instead. Ohtani was again absent from the game on July 7.

When asked about the results of an MRI on Ohtani’s side on June 6, Angels manager Phil Nevin said, “I can’t tell you the results of the MRI right now. It’s getting a lot better. We haven’t made a decision on his treatment going forward. We’ll see how he’s doing every day and decide if he’s going to play.”바카라사이트

The manager also made it clear that he has no plans to place Ohtani on the injured list (IL). “There will be no roster moves,” Nevin said, according to Japan’s Daily Sports. But the absence is getting longer. Ohtani will also be out of the lineup against Cleveland on Aug. 8. For now, Nevin said he expects Ohtani to return in the next day or two, but it remains to be seen.

Questions about Ohtani’s health have been mounting as he recently suffered a major injury, tearing a ligament in his right elbow, and has been sidelined for an extended period of time. As he approaches free agency, how will his frequent injuries affect his price tag?
