Shake up both sides of Honduras, Bae Seo-Joon-Park Chang-Woo needs quality crosses
On both sides of the ball, it’s a gap that Kim Eun-Joong will need to fill as South Korea looks to qualify early for the round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Kim Eun-Joong’s men face Honduras in their second Group F match of the tournament at the Mendoza Stadium in Argentina on June 26 at 6 a.m. ET.
Honduras is in desperate need of a turnaround. They lost their first group game against The Gambia 1-0 on Sept. 23. However, the Gambia game exposed a glaring weakness. They were vulnerable to crosses from the left and right flanks, and left fullback Javier Ariaga and right fullback Felix Garcia were sloppy in defense.
The Gambia also quickly recognized Honduras’ weaknesses and tried to create scoring opportunities with sharp crosses from the flanks. In the 27th minute, a cross from the right flank was delivered into the box after a series of passes to the penalty area, and Haruna Njie got a header on goal that was saved by the Honduran goalkeeper.
Honduras often fumbled on set pieces, most notably when they conceded the game-winner in the 39th minute. A corner kick from the left was headed in by Gambia’s opening goal scorer, Boyang, who was virtually untouched by the rebound despite the goalkeeper making the save.토토사이트
In the end, if Kim operates a back four like he did in France, sharp crosses from Bae Seo-joon (Daejeon) and Park Chang-woo (Jeonbuk) will be the key points of the game. The post play of frontline striker Lee Young-joon (Gimcheon Commerce) will also be important. When they get the ball in the opponent’s zone, they need to switch the ball to the side to exploit their weaknesses. If the opponent’s flank is broken, we can expect to score a lot of goals.
However, don’t ignore Honduras’ strengths. Their attacking routes are mainly side crosses followed by headers. Even in the fifth minute of the first half, when they were down 0-1, Aseituno rattled the net with a header from a cross from the right flank. He also looked threatening when he used his individual skill to shoot from inside the penalty box. Kim Ji-soo (Seongnam), Choi Seok-hyun (Dankook University), and Lee Chan-wook (Gyeongnam) had to watch out for fouls after a quick move in the box.
