Pedi-Young-pyo Woah…the ERA race ‘reignites’

‘7 Runs’ Pedi, 1 Run ERA collapses…Alcantara leads the way
Go Young-pyo, who was on a 12-game QS streak, also gave up 6 runs…dropped to 6th place

By Yoon-seo Park Reporter = The race for the KBO League ERA title is heating up again. NC Dinos Eric Peddie’s dominance and KT Wiz’s Young-pyo Ko’s rising pace collapsed.

Pedi started against the KIA Tigers of the 2023 Shinhan Bank Solar KBO League on March 31 at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field and struggled, allowing seven runs on eight hits and three walks in three innings. The seven runs were his most in a single game this season.

Pedi, who was leading the league with a 1.97 ERA prior to that game, was overwhelmed by the KIA bats and saw his ERA soar to 2.39. It was his highest ERA of the season.

Pedi’s quest for 20 wins and a sub-one ERA was in jeopardy. After racking up 14 wins in July, Pedi has just two wins in six games in August. He’s still on pace to reach 20 wins, but it’s unclear if he’ll get back into the 1.00s.

Pedi lost his ERA lead and dropped to third place. Raul Alcantara of the Doosan Bears has moved into first place with a 2.25 ERA.

Alcantara was in a tight race with Pedi, Kiwoom Heroes’ Ahn Woo-jin, and LG Twins’ Adam Plutko in June, but faltered in July with a 4.18 ERA in four games. However, he rebounded in August with a 1.85 ERA in five games.

Ahn Woo-jin, who led the league in ERA last year (2.11), is now second at 2.39.

Although she is coming off a season-ending Tommy John surgery to reconstruct the medial collateral ligament in her elbow, she has already pitched a full season’s worth of innings. If his competition struggles, he could go for a second straight ERA.메이저사이트

Plutko, who ranks fourth in the league in ERA (2.41), was diagnosed with a pelvic bone contusion on March 29. He could be back in time for the season finale, but there are question marks over his pitching form, which could take four to five weeks to return.

After a 12-game streak of quality starts (six or more innings of three earned runs or less) that lowered his ERA to 2.45, he slipped badly against the Gochuk Kiwoom on April 1.

In five innings, he allowed six runs on eight hits, including one home run. His ERA rose to 2.74 and he dropped to sixth place.
