Korea’s future is bright…U-17 national team defeats Turkiye to win friendly tournament

The men’s U-17 national team, which participated in a four-nation friendly tournament in Croatia, confirmed the championship by defeating the hosts, Croatia, and Turkey.

The U-17 national team led by coach Byun Seong-hwan beat Turkiye 3-1 in the second leg of the tournament held in Porec, Croatia on the 11th local time. Korea took the lead in the 35th and 45th minutes with consecutive goals by Kang Joo-hyeok (FC Seoul U-18). Both goals were assisted by Yoon Do-young 바카라. Thanks to Kang Joo-hyeok’s two goals, Korea finished the first half 2-0. However, Yoon Do-young, who showed a good performance that day, finished the game with a successful penalty kick.

In another match, Croatia and Denmark drew 4-4. With this, Korea has 6 points (+3 points), Turkey is second with 3 points (-1 point difference), followed by Denmark and Croatia with 1 point. The tournament will be ranked in the order of points – wins – wins – goal difference – goals scored. Therefore, even though Korea lost their last game against Denmark and tied the score with Turkey, the championship was confirmed because they won against Turkey. Korea will play its final match against Denmark on the 14th.
